So many reasons to praise

The last month in Guatemala, there have been many moments where I have felt the overwhelming sense of “I have no idea what to do”. From navigating the language barrier in ministry, choosing to love through challenging team dynamics, and thinking about the post-race future, I often feel at a loss. What feels like daily, I stop in my tracks and pray, “Holy Spirit, your word says you are a helper. I need your help right now.” (John 14:26)

God is so kind. Two weeks ago, I was worshipping at church, feeling desperate for God to shed light on everything that was happening and offer overarching guidance. God met me with a simple command. “Come to me every morning and I will give you daily bread”. The revelation that I need to seek daily wisdom from the Father, and he will give it to me. (James 1)

The Lord brought me to Luke 11, where the disciples ask Jesus to teach them how to pray. Jesus says, “‘When you pray, say: Father, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread, and forgive us our sins, for we ourselves forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation'”. God always provides for his kids. And in some cases, he gives the exact amount they need for the day. It reminds me of Exodus 16:4, “Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘Behold, I am about to rain bread from heaven for you, and the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day, that I may test them, whether they walk in my law or not.” God’s command was to pick Manna for the day. Not the week, not the year. He was teaching his people how to be dependent on his daily provision. Not their personal stockpile. “And Moses said to them, ‘Let no one leave any of it over till the morning.’ But they did not listen to Moses. Some left part of it till the morning, and it bred worms and stank.”

In the same way, God is teaching me how to be fully dependent. I need fresh wisdom and revelation every morning. But praise God! He has provided an answer every time I seek him. He has given me next steps of how to be obedient every morning. He has taught me how to engage with those around me all the way down to eye contact. God tells me to move and I move because my dependence is unto his glory. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, “But he said to me, ‘my grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly of my weakness, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” I feel so weak, but in that weakness, I see the power of God. Thank you, Jesus!

Keep praying, my Spirit is being built up by each prayer. Thank you!

  2. Thank you for this encouragement! I was actually in this scripture this morning. I am paying even closer attention when He brings something twice in a day. : )

Hope you are well and we sure do miss you!

  3. Grace, this is beautiful. Thank you for sharing. ❤️Praying for continued deep intimacy and all the comfort of the Lord Jesus. I needed to hear the Scripture in 2 Corinthians today. This scripture came to mind when I was praying for you: “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” ‭‭John‬ ‭10‬:‭27‬ ‭
What a gift it is to know and be known by God.
